I’ve had them, been had by them, created them, even helped remove with a tracktor with chains.

A large field once held about 400 Alder trees, cut down by had with a small red bow saw, down to sixteen inch pieces to be hand carried up a hill to be placed in a basement for future warming in a winter that would seem as cold and distant as at the time a sweltering summer. The stumps had to go, little kids out of the way, but watched as the Mother actually tied the chains to the stumps and the tracktor drive would root them out. Can’t say what happened to the stumps, you got me!

How that came to mean, I can’t figure it out, who knows, but tricking people is fun, perhaps it is because feet get tangled in them and down you go? That’s enough research on the subject for now.
